Mason Proper's new album, Olly Oxen Free, caught my attention with its fantastic album art. I'm always a sucker for a sweet album cover. After listening to the album, I was more confused than anything else. What had just happened? Mason Proper is unlike anything I'd ever heard, but I can't pinpoint why. They've got melodic hooks, fuzzy guitar, shiny keyboard, creepy falsetto, and tight drums. It all fits a way together in an off-kilter way that still trips me up every time I listen to it.
